Bagged Salad Cyclospora Outbreak Update News – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that ALDI, in conjunction with Fresh Express Inc., recalled ALDI’s 12oz. Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salads from stores in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
FDA’s Bagged Salad Cyclospora Outbreak Update Information
On June 22, 2020, ALDI recalled its 12oz. Little Salad Bar Brand Garden Salads due to the possibility that the product is contaminated with Cyclospora. The ongoing bagged salad Cyclospora outbreak has also included recalled bagged salad from Hy-Vee, with others investigating.
The FDA’s investigation is continuing and they will provide additional updates as further information becomes available.
Cyclospora Information
Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Cyclospora infects the small intestine (bowel) and usually causes watery diarrhea, with frequent, sometimes explosive, bowel movements. Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. Vomiting, body aches, headache, fever, and other flu-like symptoms may be noted.
