Child Bicycle Trailers Recall News
As of October 28, 2015, Burley Design’s Child Bicycle Trailers recall due to risk of crash and injury to the child within the trailer, reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Due to a design flaw, the black plastic tow bar receivers may detach from the tow bar, even if the parts appear to be connected. If these parts are not firmly connected while the trailer is being pulled by a moving bicycle, the trailer may detach from the bicycle and crash.
So far, there have been 35 cases reported to Burley Design of this occurrence. Two of these cases resulted in the injury of a child.

• Recalled trailers have a black plastic tow bar receiver with an integrated wheel guard; trailers with aluminum tow bar receivers are not included in the recall.”
Consumer Product Injuries
The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that consumer product incidents, including deaths, injuries, and property damage, cost the nation more than $1 trillion each year. Amusement park rides, cars, recreation equipment, ATVs, children’s toys and products, furniture, power tools, household chemicals, and home appliances are just a few examples of consumer products that can cause serious or fatal injuries. These injuries can occur as the result of defective product design, failure to adhere to safety standards and regulations, or inadequate product labeling and instructions.
