Chicken Chili Soup Recall News – On November 22, 2016, Hale and Hearty Soups, LLC recalled its ready-to-eat Chicken Chili Soup due to the products potential to contain Listeria monocytogenes.
Chicken Chili Soup Recall Information
Hale and Hearty Soups, LLC of Brooklyn, New York, has recalled approximately 455 pounds of its ready-to-eat chicken chili soup that was produced and packaged on November 9, 2016. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Press Release, the product has the potential to carry Listeria monocytogenes. The products was shipped to food service distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.
The following products are subject to recall:
• 6.9-lb. bags containing “CHICKEN CHILI SOUP” with an “Expires:12/09” date.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-34800” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
What is Listeria?
Listeria infection, or listeriosis, is a serious and sometimes fatal foodborne illness caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) there are about 880 confirmed cases of listeriosis in the U.S. each year.
