Samsung Recalls Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone
On August 19, 2016, Samsung brought its highly anticipated Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone to market in the United States. The company was quickly forced to issue a recall however, due to major issues with the lithium-ion battery of the phone. The lithium-ion battery in the Galaxy Note 7 smart phones can overheat and catch fire, posing a serious burn hazard to consumers.
According to the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSP), “Samsung has received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the U.S., including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage.” The recall is on about 1 million units.
