On June 22, 2020, Hy-Vee announced a recall for its 12oz Hy-Vee Bagged Garden Salad product across an eight-state region. The product manufacturer, Fresh Express, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) have been investigating a Cyclospora contamination, and subsequent outbreak, linked to bagged salad in the upper-Midwest section of the United State.
Hy-Vee’s recall of bagged salad is limited to its 12oz. Hy-Vee Bagged Garden Salad, all UPC’s, and expiration dates. The affected product was distributed to Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region of:
- Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin
Consumers who purchased this product should discard it or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
Cyclospora Information
Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Cyclospora infects the small intestine (bowel) and usually causes watery diarrhea, with frequent, sometimes explosive, bowel movements.
