Genesis II Church Injunction News – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that a Federal Judge issued a temporary injunction against Genesis II Church for failure to comply with the FDA’s April 8, 2020 warning letter ordering Genesis II Church to stop claiming its “Miracle Mineral Solution” (“MMS”) could treat or prevent COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Genesis II Church Injunction Information
On April 17, 2020, a Federal Judge issued a temporary injunction against Genesis II Church for failing to comply with the FDA’s warning letter. Genesis II Church has been marketing its MMS as a prevention and treatment towards coronavirus.
The Court found that the United States demonstrated that Genesis II Church and the affiliated individuals named in the injunction are violating the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C) by unlawfully distributing MMS. The FDA has cautioned that MMS is not an approved drug and further, it is misbranded; When combined with the included activator, MMS has a chlorine dioxide content equivalent to industrial bleach.
FDA Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn, M.D. was quoted as saying:
“Americans expect and deserve proven medical treatments and today’s action is a forceful reminder that the FDA will use its legal authorities to quickly stop those who have proven to continuously threaten the health of the American public. It is vital that sellers of drug products comply with the FD&C Act and do not sell products with false and misleading claims, especially to treat COVID-19 and other debilitating diseases, such as autism and Alzheimer’s Disease. Despite a previous warning, the Genesis II Church of Healing has continued to actively place consumers at risk by peddling potentially dangerous and unapproved chlorine dioxide products. We will not stand for this, and the FDA remains fully committed to taking strong enforcement action against any sellers who place unsuspecting American consumers at risk by offering their unproven products to treat serious diseases.”
This temporary injunction against Genesis II Church and associated individuals will remain in effect until May 1, 2020, at which time a hearing will be held as to the government’s request to extend the temporary injunction.
