Jewel-Osco Bagged Salad Recall News – Jewel-Osco, in cooperation with Fresh Express, announced that they are recalling their Signature Farms Garden Salad due to possible Cyclospora exposure.
Jewel-Osco Bagged Salad Recall Information
On June 19, 2020, Jewel-Osco announced a recall for its bagged salad product, Signature Farms Garden Salad, due to a Cyclospora contamination linked to the ongoing, multi-state outbreak in the Midwest. Jewel-Osco’s bagged salad recalled applies to stores in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. ALDI and Hy-Vee have also issued similar recalls for their bagged salad products linked to the Midwestern Cyclospora outbreak.
Jewel-Osco’s recall encompasses its bagged salad product sold in 12oz. bags. The products have “best if used by” dates of May 16 through July 4 (5-16-20 through 7-04-20), which is printed on the top right corner on the front of the package. The UPC code is 21130 98135, found on the back of the package and has a unique plant number of S5417.
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to either discard or return the bagged salad product to the place of purchase for a refund.
Cyclospora Information
Per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Cyclospora infects the small intestine (bowel) and usually causes watery diarrhea, with frequent, sometimes explosive, bowel movements. Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps/pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue. Vomiting, body aches, headache, fever, and other flu-like symptoms may be noted.
