FDA E-Cigarette Regulation
In response to the alarming results of a study showing that E-cigarette use among teens has increase by over 900% from 2011-2015, the FDA has added a new federal law on those who sell e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookahs.
E-cigarettes Will Receive Same Oversite as Traditional Cigarettes
Both retailers and manufacturers of these nicotine products will face new regulation by the FDA. This expanded government oversight will bring manufacturers, importers and/or retailers of newly- regulated tobacco products in line with other FDA-regulated tobacco products.
The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act Will Be Applied to E-cigarettes
These regulations are not unprecedented: in 2009, Congress passed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (TCA) giving the FDA authority to regulate the manufacturing, distribution and marketing of tobacco products to protect the public health. Now e-cigarettes, cigars, and hookahs, will be held to TCA standards.
