According to a recent study conducted by researchers at the Australian National University, medications such as Nexium, Prevacid, and Prilosec have been connected to an increased likelyhood of hospitalization due to stomach flu.
These medications, also known as Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) medications, are used to control stomach acid and manage symptoms of heart burn, acid reflux, and indigestion.

PPI Users Require Hospitalization At A Much Higher Rate Than Non-users
The presenter of the project,Yingxi Chen, and colleagues tracked approximetly 38,000 people for a span of over six years. The subjects taking PPIs were about one and a half times more likely to require hospitalization to treat gastroenteritis than non-users. Higher doses increased the risk.
The study also found that elderly and overwight PPI users had an increased risk of contracting serious stomach flu.

PPI medication use puts patients at risk for a variety of serious complications in addition to chronic kidney disease and heart attack, including:
