Salmonella Macadamia Nut Recall Announced – Marin Foods Specialties, Inc. announced a recall for its raw macadamia nuts sold in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington Whole Foods Market stores because the product may be contaminated with the foodborne pathogen Salmonella. According to the company’s press release, routine testing performed by an FDA-contracted laboratory, determined that the raw macadamia nuts products tested positive for Salmonella bacteria.

The recalled nuts are labeled “Whole Foods Market Raw Macadamia Nuts” and are packaged in 6 oz. clear plastic tubs. The recalled nuts have “best by” dates of August 21, 2016 through November 6, 2016, and bear UPC Code 99948200132. The product was distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
