Paula Wolf, staff writer for The Sunday News, reports that the Pennsylvania State Department of Health is investigating a Salmonella food poisoning outbreak that sickened 11 people in Leola, PA, last month.
Most of the food poisoning victims had attended a Christmas party for employees of Leola Village Inn & Suites.
State health officials believe that the 11 cases of food poisoning are linked to Mazzi, a restaurant located in the Leola Village complex.
The owner of the restaurant notified the local health department after workers developed food poisoning symptoms that included nausea, fever, and chills.
Ms Wolf also reported that “Stacy Kriedeman, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health, said Friday that there were 11 confirmed laboratory cases of salmonella involving people who ate at Mazzi on Dec. 10, 11 and 12, and 39 more people who reported feeling ill.”
