What is a Medical Device?
The term “medical device” refers to a product intended to diagnose a disease or condition; or to prevent, treat, or alleviate an illness or condition. Surgical implants including vaginal mesh and hip joints, diagnostic products and equipment, surgical lasers, laparoscopic power morcellators, x-ray machines, pacemakers, and endoscopes are all examples of medical device products.

Medical devices and certain radiation emitting products are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Medical device manufactures are required to meet specific regulations to keep the public both safe and informed while using these products.
